In 2023-2024, LAPP will open its doors to the public on one Wednesday each month.

In 2023-2024, to celebrate the Year of Physics, LAPP is launching a new series of events: LAPP Wednesdays. Visitors to the LAPP will be able to take part in a series of events for the general public on one Wednesday each month, including visits to the Espace Découvertes Eutopia.

A diverse programme open to all: conferences, discussions and workshops

One Wednesday a month, LAPP staff invite you to discover a facet of research during a free event open to all. Conferences, visits, discussions, workshops... Several formats accessible to all audiences will be offered throughout the year. The events will be held in French.

The 2023-2024 LAPP Wednesdays programme is announced on the dedicated website. Other events will be announced over time: https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/30570/

The first event will take place on Wednesday 8 November 2023 from 5pm, with tours of Eutopia and a conference-debate at 6pm on the scientific approach. For more information, click here: https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/30570/

LAPP continues its commitment to society

The LAPP is strongly attached to its local roots in Haute-Savoie, and for several years now has been taking steps to develop links between society and science, and to open up the laboratory to society and the local community.

« Research, both public and private, is there to advance knowledge for human beings and for society. We need to help our fellow citizens get closer to that goal. » Giovanni Lamanna, Director of LAPP, in Propos de chercheurs 2022 (Fondation USMB)

The Eutopia project was born of LAPP’s desire to share its knowledge and scientific advances with the general public and to make its scientific disciplines accessible to as many people as possible.

The Espace Découvertes Eutopia, inaugurated in 2019, has been funded by three local authorities (Grand Annecy, Haute-Savoie department and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region), by the Initiative d’excellence Université Grenoble Alpes, by the Labex Enigmass and by the laboratory’s two supervisory bodies: CNRS and Université Savoie Mont Blanc. Within this immersive space, animated by researchers and engineers, LAPP offers to all publics, from schoolchildren to the socio-economic world, an original space to discover physics in a different way.

With LAPP Wednesdays, the laboratory is continuing to open its doors to the general public, an approach it has been pursuing for many years, notably by organising open days during the Fête de la Science.
