7 and 8 October 2023: a weekend open to all

Every 2 years, LAPP and LAPTh open their doors to the public for a weekend during the Fête de la Science. Access is free for all. No registration is necessary, except for a few specific workshops.

On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October 2023, LAPP, LAPTh and ULISSE will be welcoming you with a program dedicated to the general public!

In the morning, the youngest visitors will be able to take part in workshops for children aged 4 and over (registration required). Furthermore, all the visitors will be able to discover the EUTOPIA Discovery Space in the company of researchers and engineers who are passionate about their work...

In the afternoon, even more activities for all ages: tours of EUTOPIA and the MUST computing center, conferences, games, meetings...

This year’s highlights: Share a coffee with scientists, discover fun experiments, attend exciting lectures, discover ULISSE (the CNRS transport and logistics unit), turn the clock back a few decades...

The full program and list of activities can be found here: https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/29832/

Access to the LAPP and LAPTh open days is free for all, without registration.

However, some workshops and activities have a very limited number of participants. Early registration is necessary for these workshops only, and is essential to guarantee access. To register for workshops, visit this website: https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/29832/registrations/3560/

Visitors will also have access to the USMB Science Village, within walking distance of LAPP/LAPTh.

School visits during the week of 9 to 13 October 2023

Visits dedicated to school groups will be held during the week of 9 to 13 October 2023, on registration only.

Two types of programmes are offered, adapted to the level and interests of the students:

  • For primary and secondary school students (6 to 15 years old): two workshops to learn how to use measuring instruments adapted to what we are trying to quantify, and to question the information we receive in large quantities every day.
  • For high school and university students (aged 15 and over): Privileged exchanges with researchers, engineers and technicians, discovery of research professions, visits to infrastructures, etc.

Registration for school groups closed in the summer. We will be pleased to see you at the next Fête de la Science, or at one of our other events for schools students (Women and Girls in Science, Masterclasses, etc.).

If you have any questions about visiting LAPP, please contact us at visites@lapp.in2p3.fr

Events for the general public in 2023 and 2024, to mark the Year of Physics

Following the Fête de la Science, to mark the Year of Physics, LAPP is launching a new programme of events for the general public: the Mercredis du LAPP (Wednesdays at LAPP)!

The concept: one Wednesday each month, LAPP’s scientists invite you to discover a new aspect of scientific research during an open to all event.

Conferences, discussions, workshops... Several events open to all will be held throughout the year.

These meetings will be accompanied by visits to the Eutopia Discovery Space.

Understanding the French language is necessary to be able to follow these events.
